Sample data is entirely synthetic — fabricated names, amounts and test IBANs. Nothing is uploaded from your device.
A spreadsheet your accountant will actually trust
Business banking delivers MT940 through EBICS, host-to-host and SWIFT feeds — not through a uniform CSV. And when banks do offer CSV, columns and date/decimal formats differ between them. MT2CAMT normalises any MT940 into one consistent workbook: dates are date cells, amounts are numeric cells with a currency format, and the header row is frozen so a long statement stays readable.
MT940 text can be a mess of bank-specific :86: narratives. Where the bank uses structured subfields, MT2CAMT pulls out the counterparty name and IBAN for you; where it does not, the full original text is kept — nothing is silently dropped.

MT940 to Excel — common questions
Why not just rename the CSV to .xlsx?
You can — but you get a text dump, not a spreadsheet. Dates stay text, amounts need re-formatting, and accented names can garble. MT2CAMT writes real cells so the file is usable the moment it opens.
Will the Excel file work on a Mac and in Windows?
Yes. The file is a standard .xlsx opened by Excel, LibreOffice, Google Sheets and most accounting packages.
Is Excel the same as CSV with extra steps?
For import into accounting software, Excel is a separate export target with its own value. Both are supported here — convert to whichever your workflow needs.
